When people first meet me, they are skeptical that I am In fact the principal. I suppose I don’t really fit the ‘Principal’ stereotype. Some of my fifth graders are larger in stature than me. I don’t usually wear suits, although I will if I have to. And, the tattoos also throw some people off…at least until they get to know me.

I joke with people that when I retire from educational administration, I plan to go back to the classroom. Unless I run for senate. Somebody needs to advocate for public schools, and it should be an educator not a politician who has never educated. I digress. Education is my life. Public education was what gave me this life, and I give my life back through public education. My goal as an educator each day is to do good work, with good people, for good people. I have worked in public education since 1999, and in administration since 2010.

In addition to my work in the schools, I am also a wife and a mom of five kids; five very diverse, unique individuals -three of whom have ditched me to go off into the word to make their mark. My two teenaged sons still at home with me are my world. My family and I call Michigan home, and we live a pretty contented life with our kids, dogs and reptiles.

Aside from my life in public education, my family and making memories with my family are my life priorities. Life is an adventure, and I intend to live it to the fullest!
