I’m seriously going nuts here…between the neurotic dog and my kids cooking in my office multiple times per day… I am constantly interrupted. This is my office!!! Why are you cooking chocolate pancakes?! Oh right…because it doubles as a kitchen right now. Seriously….Chocolate pancakes….It’s not Christmas!!! Did you rinse your dishes? Is that burning pancake I smell? What are you doing?!?! Stop feeding the dog pancakes. Did you wash your hands? Stop. Wash your hands again. Why is there pancake batter on the outside of the pan? This is just pushing my type A-ness to the limits.

I finally have one thing checked off my Monday “To do” list, but I have started about 10 things. I have spent a lot of time trying to keep people connected….families connected to educational resources, families connected to the school, keeping teachers connected to families, and me…I have spent more time connected to my devices than I have in a long time…as part of keeping people connected. My screen time report for this week is going to be off the charts and my fit bit thinks I am dead.

Most of the community is shut down at this point…Gyms (No 5:30 am spin class for me), restaurants, schools, and now we are starting to see city and county services closing and reducing operations. The pet food store guy told me yesterday that their suppliers are worried about next week’s delivery since many of the services that truckers rely on are also shuttering their operations. Neurotic Doggo is all clear with two giant bags of dog food.

After work yesterday (That just sounds wrong since I am basically sitting in my kitchen working to the background sounds of a teen aged debate on whether or not the Simpson’s predicted the corona virus like they predicted the Trump presidency) we went down to Parkside tennis courts to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. Lo and behold they have set up a drive thru testing site for COVID-19. It was amusing to watch security run off curious residents of the area…but in reality…wow. The screening location at the hospital was busy enough that a new screening location was established. These are strange times for sure.

As today rolls along, we might take some time to do some home school lessons…things like ecological maintenance (raking leaves), ecological sciences and geometry lesson ( calculating the square footage of beds and determining the quantity of mulch needed for mulching beds to prevent frost bite and evaporation in the summer months), yard chemistry (aerating the compost), practical chemistry (scrubbing toilets and shower doors). We might also have a statistics and probability lesson (If we go to the park what is the likelihood that we will encounter groups of 10, and which parks are the safest based on square footage to people ratio).

Stay safe and sane my friends….
