‘Twas the Night before Teachers report…

‘Twas the night before teachers were reporting back to school; Universal compliance with mitigation strategies was the #1 rule. Our masks and social distance stickers were firmly in place; this principal’s fingers were crossed hoping all the planning wasn’t a waste. We haven’t seen our kiddos in five long months; We hope this school year we see the kids more than once! Our football season has been cancelled we are sad to say, but looking forward to spring and hope the kids can play! New sanitizing stations have all been installed; technology distribution is ready once parents get the call….

Queen of the Campground Karens… spoiler alert…. it isn’t me!

Here is something I never thought I would do: use Karen as a derogatory term towards another person. But here I am… doing it. So here is the thing about ‘Karens’: it’s the new put down that represents white female entitlement. It is characterized by the woman treating customer service people poorly, complaining about her meal to waitstaff, griping at her child’s teachers over small non-issue issues…because she thinks she can. It is the epitome of a person who is completely selfish and lacking empathy in an effort to appease their wants- not even needs. I am against that level…

As My Dear Ole’Gran Used to Say….

My Gran was full of wisdom, as is true of many people who have lived long lives. You don’t know what you know until you know it, and then you have the old folks who try to help you know those things before you experience it for yourself…but that stubborn younger generation….knows it all. I sure did. My Gran had a saying or an adage for everything. Sometimes I have to smile when I hear my mom repeating those adages to me, or to my children. A couple things she used to say to me really stand out to me…
